DescriptionEvery day we live with the direct effects of autism and other mental health disorders. Trenton (16), Olivia (14) and Annika (11) have a very unique life with the multitude of disabilities we deal with on a daily basis. Every day is a structured routine. Every day provides therapies, adaptive events and many hours of advocating. Due to these struggles, we are unable to take vacations, and we would like to take these kids on a well deserved cruise!
We have chosen to take a family cruise with Autism on the Seas, and we are looking to book the October 28th cruise; 7 nights that take us through Cozumel and Progresso, Mexico - after leaving out from New Orleans, LA. Why did we choose Autism on the Seas? They provide special accommodations for youth with Autism! Autism on the Seas is a non-profit company that allows families like ours to experience a vacation that at one time we would have imagined to be impossible. They arrange specific special needs accommodations with the cruise lines and they provide professionally qualified staff to assist us with expedited port check-in, meal assistance, pool time supervision, beach excursions, respite (time for Trent to be well cared for while the rest of the family can do other things), and many other perks and assistance.
Our family is trying to fundraise to help with the cost of this trip, as otherwise this trip would not be possible. The money we are looking to raise would cover the entire trip with an ocean window room, meals, boarding, etc. We have also applied for grants to assist us in this venture. It would mean so much to our family to take a vacation such as this cruise. Would you be interested in helping us?
